THE PIGS
The Pigs are an American rock band hailing from Statesboro, Georgia. The band was initially formed in the late 70s with founding members Gary Fordham, Tommy Akins, Gary Mills, and Chris Lanier. Gary Mills eventually stepped away from music and became the band's manager, and Stewart Bird joined the group as its drummer in 1981.
In its formative years, The Pigs primarily played college parties and local dive bars around Athens and Atlanta, which was also home to other legendary and influential college rock bands of the era, like R.E.M. and the B-52’s. The band moved to Atlanta in 1983 and began touring extensively across the east coast, playing over 1,000 shows and collaborating with legendary producers like Don Dixon and John Keene.
After several years of touring, the band went their separate ways but always remained close. Today, The Pigs are back together, remastering and re-releasing their entire discography, including fan favorites and never-before-heard tracks.
